EDSA II to EDSA III: What you sow, is what you get…. This is mob rule anew!

By: Danny S. Villanueva

Once more with feeling… with moaning… with crying….. with yelling, with dancing, with singing….PEOPLE POWER III or EDSA III is happening right now. It is another mob festival in the making. It is more intense than EDSA II. There are 5 times more people participation this time and still growing every day. Today is the 4th day of the nonstop rally at EDSA Shrine. The class D and E are in the middle of it all as they call it- POOR PEOPLE POWER.

But the GMA-CORY-SIN-RAMOS-NDF(reds) alliance seems napipikon na and calls the now people power as ERAP Loyalists’ ERAPOWER. Their controlled press are having news black out of this great news worthy event, trying to belittle it. The major TV networks do not cover fully the current event as they claimed to be harassed by the demonstrators. Well, you cannot blame them… since these media were seen to be biased during EDSA II. But at this time, the people were instructed not to hurt the media. Net 25, owned by the Iglesia ni Cristo is the only TV and radio network covering the event.

Cardinal Sin calls the rallying people to be trespassing and telling everyone that the EDSA Shrine is a private property of the Church. It is like Sin saying: Keep out, this is my turf. People Power is originally mine alone. Hahaha. The clergy and administration are seen not to be smiling… but more of trembling… in fear of being booted out as what they did with Erap….. a people’s coup is hanging over their heads…. Sabi nga ng iba.

The people’s great lamentation: Disregard of the Phil. Constitution and By-Laws in handling Pres. Estrada’s impeachment and GMA’s ascension to presidency, the “overkill” procedure in arresting and jailing Pres. Estrada, the elite’s abused of power, the clerico-politico dynasty, worsening economy, etc. Ibalik si Erap sa Malacanang and Gloria resign- now they shout.

The Police and the Military are seemed divided now. The Senators and Congressmen who we saw at EDSA II stage are back to show their faces and wares at EDSA III giving sympathetic words. Balimbingan is back also. Hahaha.

Text messaging (claimed to be the tool of EDSAII) by celfone by the elite are not working well this time unlike EDSA II. The poor folks do not have the expensive celfones. You don’t find starbucks coffee cups around or the bottled water this time. Instead a water tank truck provides water to demonstrators. What a contrast.

Similar mass actions are also happening in other parts of the country like Davao, Cebu and Bicol. O-Oh…. With Sunday, Monday (ipit, holiday) and Tuesday (May 1- Labor Day, holiday), we expect more actions. Abangan.

We pray that this deepening political experience will bring all of us Filipinos to a renewed democratic sanity where we can work clearly toward a more lasting peace and unity in our country, in the glory and love of our God- Jesus Christ, our Father and Savior. Mary Help of Christians, pray for all of us. Amen #DSV
