Cooling One’s Top
By: Danny S. Villanueva
The heat is on. One can blow his top because of the sweltering weather we are in nowadays. Wow. We just got to cool our tops, guys. You, bet Ditse, aside from putting ice on our heads, the next popular thing to do for men as countermeasure is to get that Ricky Martin haircut. Or better, try the Kojak or “Kooljak” no hairstyle. Imagine if all the Pinoys get such bald look. It will just be too bald on one hand. On the other hand, there will be fewer hotheads on the streets of Tondo. Gee- cool men, peace man, cool hegg’eads. Hahaha.
For the likes of Pugos and Togos, for many summers now, they have been enjoying a cool top. For me, it was getting cooler as time goes by. But recently, to speed up the process, I just got my airforce crewcut back and enjoy more cool feeling on top. However, it will take awhile before I could reach the same high degree of cooling satisfaction of the calbos and the likes. For them, a hothead is a thing of the past. Right, Jun, we call these cool men as Coolbo. In the middle east, they are popularly called Arabohok.
Looking back when we were kids, Nanay and Tatay would alternate giving us (Kuya Noli maintained the steel brush look-bagsak ang butiki, paktaylo na; Dodje and me glued the ambok with so much Dixie Peach;) the “white side wall” haircut every 2 weeks. That was cool and neat, man! Then, when I was a yuppy then, Ditse would happily (pinagpapractisan) trim my hair every now and then for my usual prim look, naks. That was really cute. Ditse would always come in handy for that personal need and save me a lot of pesos. Those good things are gone now. I have to contend now with barbers who are also practitioners of karate and physical therapy. Ouch, my neck…my back…araguy.
Ditz, how about the girls, how can you cool your heads during simmer? Ahhhsoooo, magpayong na lang kasi at huwag magpacoolbo. Hahahaha. DSV
