The Pinoy Summer
By: DSV
It is really getting warmer these days. Now we are back to finding ways to cope with the many aspects and moods of summer, which can be both favorable and unfavorable. The way we see it, addressing them, particularly the disconcerting ones, is not that impossible nor difficult at all. As Noypis, we have this trademark of having the ability to be adaptable to varying conditions. I heard you right Pearl, about us Pinoys being characterized as pliant as the bamboo.
This brings to view the beautiful and pleasant barriotic scenes in San Jose, NE, once upon a vacation time -like Sangkong Boy is seen reading his favorite komiks in a swinging hammock, attached to 2 mango trees. To put more local color to it, Sangko holds a native fan for the added cool air.
Beside the hammock snapshot, you find Dikong Udeng in a ala-Juan Tamad act, fully stretched on a grassy ground right under the guava tree, as if waiting for its fruit to fall to his waiting open mouth, who is actually deep in sleep and snoring a Pavarotti melody. No, JunM, Dikong is not in his 501’s. He is in his comfortable purontongs and matching kamiset chino. This guy Conrad looks always cool, di ba?
Inside the bahay, we see Kakang Bert and Kuya Noli partaking cold tuba. In the papag bed, Dodje looks droopy. Not really, Ditz, he is not dead-drunk at all. Dodje does not dig tuba at all. He just had his favorite cold buko juice. He’s just too drowsy in his siesta.
At the batalan, while Inang slices a big, reddish, sweet and very juicy watermelon, Hiling and Betty continue to sneak and munch some cut ones. They would at first accumulate the seeds in their mouth, then playfully approach the window and spit out the melon seeds one by one to a waiting tiklis on the ground as their hole-in-one target.
